Marmaduke Duke, duke pandemonium cd cover

Marmaduke Duke - Duke Pandemonium

It has been four years since The Magnificent Duke came out and now they finally release Duke Pandemonium. Marmaduke Duke consist of members of Biffy Clyro, Sucioperro and others.

Whilst their previous album was an experimental rock album this is a totally different direction. The opening track Heartburn comes in and it is a very danceable track complete with synths, guitars and dance beats,. Everybody Dance follows and this is more uptempo than the previous track but unfortunatly fails to burst in to life, I think it sounds similar to Datarock. Again Silhouettes is another fast dance track but the song refreshingly relies on live instruments as opposed to a lot of other pure electronic bands. Kid Gloves slows down the pace slightly with hiphop style beats and distorted bass. Demons is a 7 minute disco track which never lets up which goes straight in to their recent single, which at less than 3 minutes long is a short track but this has featured heavily on the radio and it is a very good choice for a single.

Overall the album is okay, it is first and foremost a dance album with hints of indie but a lot of the songs structures and rhythms used keep it interesting whilst still making sure it is aimed at the dancefloor.
