After seven years of releasing material Funeral For a Friend release their "best of". I am not usually a fan of greatest hits compilations but this comes with four brand new tracks and the special edition has a bonus cd of rare tracks and b sides.
The greatest hits disc goes in chronological order from the ferocity of early material such as This Year's Most Open Heartbreak, the huge hits of Juneau and Red Is The New Black, and the festival anthems of Into Oblivion and Roses For the Dead. The four new tracks suprisingly show a return to their heavier side whilst still having a huge chorus and a catchy melody. With any greatest hits compilation there will always be arguments as to what should be on so not everyone will be pleased and there is only one track included from last year's Memory and Humanity.
The second cd is full of rare gems such as You Want Romance and 10 Scene Points to the Winner which are arguably their heaviest tracks and appeared as b sides. There are also some interesting covers such as Sunday Bloody Sunday and The Boys Are Back in Town. The cd finishes off with two acoustic tracks and remix which are a good change.
Fans of the band will probably have most of the material on the first cd but the extra tracks and the disc of b sides and rare tracks should be enough to sway people to buy it. Plus if you are a fan of bands such as Lostprophets, Taking Back Sunday and The Blackout and have not got the early Funeral For a Friend material then you will be not be disappointed if you pick this up.
Out now on single cd, double cd special edition and iTunes edition with 4 exclusive tracks.
