The Blackout have gone from playing small venues (they have even played Carlisle Brickyard!) and supporting bands such as Lostprophets to playing major festivals and doing their own big tour. Their catchy mix of memorable hooks, harsh vocals and dancefloor groove is hard to resist!
New album The Best In Town does not disappoint! Opening off with STFUppercut this song is The Blackout doing what they do best! Fast furious riffs&drumming and harsh vocals sit next to a shout along clean chorus and breakdowns that will cause chaos at their live shows. Save Our Selves is a much calmer track but it will be a live favourite with the big chorus and up tempo drumming, not to mention the breakdown 2 minutes in which is guaranteed to get the fans jumping! Top Of The World is a calmer track as well and shows off Sean's singing voice in fine form. The Fire is a heavy track which is good after the previous two slower ones but still has a catchy edge to it and it also has excellent guitar work. Recent single Children of the Night follows and it is my favourite on the album. Great choice for a single, it is fast, energetic and the chorus will stick in your head! Said And Done is another fast energetic track, a potential live set closer? Silent is a slow song and the following I Love Myself and I Wanna Live sounds like a potential single and it features guest vocals by Josh from You Me At Six. This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things is another single candidate. Closer We're All Going To Hell is one of the heaviest tracks on the album but it still has a melodic element to it.
The Best In Town is The Blackout doing their mix of heavy and poppy better than ever. This is a great album and definantly one to pick up if you are a fan of bands such as Lostprophets, You Me At Six, Taking Back Sunday and We Are The Ocean.
