After being lucky to hear some new Kasabian material last year when they played The Sands Centre in Carlisle (they have also played The Brickyard!) I was looking forward to hearing them on CD but after almost a year since the gig the new album finally gets released.
Opening up with Underdog this has a similar feel to Club Foot but more synths and background sounds. Where Did All The Love Go is next and is probably the most electronic track they have done but the synths have a 60s psychedelia feel about them and the chorus is very memorable. Swarfiga is up next and is 2 minutes of drum and bass. Fast Fuze is one of the album highlights and is very uptempo, Take Aim again shows more emphasis on synths and background sounds but is coupled with a simple but solid drum beat. Thick as Thieves, West Ryder Silver Bullet and Ladies&Gentlemen and album closer Happiness are chilled out, almost easy listening tracks, not catchy or memorable but not that is not the aim of them. Vlad The Impaler, Secret Alphabets and Fire are all solid pieces of electro rock that will be live favourites.
The album is a lot more experimental than the previous two and it has a good mixture of electronic dance tracks and diverse material.
