Springboard Project at Cumbria Outdoors

Cumbria Outdoors are looking for a group of 8 young people aged between 16 and 18, to get involved in an active project, for a period of a year, with an option of staying involved for a further year.

The Springboard project is based at our Hawse End Centre near Keswick, and is aimed at creating opportunities for young people to develop skills, and gain accreditations, in outdoor activities.

You need to be 16-18 years old, living in Allerdale and interested in working towards, and achieving accreditations in the outdoors, eg, kayaking, canoeing, walking,climbing etc. Interested in developing leadership skills and team work skills.

You do not need to have had any experience in outdoor activities, but you do need to show commitment to learning and developing over the two years.

For each year you are involved, you will be offered:

  • 7 free outdoor activity days (roughly one a month, on a Saturday or Sunday)
  • The opportunity to achieve at least one nationally recognised accreditation.
  • Free or subsidised bus transport.

Once you are 18, there may be further opportunities to volunteer with Cumbria Outdoors and accompany other groups on activities.
